typical coach (Vidharbha exp)
Great to see these pics.. one thing does surprise me is the labelling 'Tatkal Coach' way back in 1997. I had thought it was a recent phenomenon!

This is not the POW. Its the Great Indian Rover that was operated out of Howrah by ER. If I'm not mistaken, it served the Buddhist circuit and was popular amongst Japanese tourists.

Many South trains (including GT and Tamilnadu) used to have the cream-orange livery in the late 80s.

green toilets
Binai, I think that’s the system for the LHB rake toilets. Don’t think these will discharge the compound waste on the tracks but on the contrary get stored till an attendant disposes it upon arrival at a particular station or at the terminal station.
Ranjeet, why would it be a loss for the railways (referring to Ranjeet’s comment on Binai’s theory)? This way when the train is stationary, the platforms/stations will not get polluted/dirty. It’s not the common mass but the gang men, railway staff or railfans who walk on the tracks!

Is it so Binai? Then what is the use of Green Toilets? Loss for railways!
