Well, the body isn't wider. It is standard ICF size. The carrying capacity was increased by reinforcing the coach insides. Something as big as an ICF coach should ordinarily be able to carry much more. But I suppose the bogie and the frame have their limitations.

Don't think there is much difference in the capacities of the vans. The first coach is an ICF/RCF make while the second is a BEML make coach. Hence the change in appearence.

I wasn't even 3 months old when this image was recorded! Evokes childhood memories of awe and respect of the loco at BBVT, and tears as my parents sensibly refused to return to CHTS by the DQ.
