North Konkan Outing 14th February 2007.

This trip was based on Lalam’s bright spark to spend an entire day in the Raigad district, starting and ending our session with the sightings of the two Rajdhani Expresses on the Konkan Railways. This was the first time that the Pune gang – Satish (Gune), Lalam (Mandavkar) and Apurva went to railfanning locations by a taxi rather than by a train, for this is only time effective way to cover vast parts of the remote KR easily. This is a joint presentation by the three of us – the photographer’s name for a particular image is mentioned at the end.

A view of the RoRo rake – the trucks travel fully fueled, loaded and with their driving crew. There is no provision to cater for the human comforts of the truck crew – the journey from Verna to Kolad could take 12 hours.

We visit a tiny flag station, Goregaon Road (code=GNO) located between Veer and Mangaon. The station is quite far from the town and is accessible only by tiny village roads. I would always cherish the memory of this place – we got so many good photo opp

Appu you have really proved what you preach - "you have been sent there by God to do your duty - take great pics! Be prepared to take efforts rather than risk". I really liked the three of you going to three destinations and taking the pic of the same...
