WAP 1 with patna raj
Seems HWH is the only WAP-4 holding shed to paint "Bharathiya rail" on the side panels..Others settle for the serial number alone.

Thanks for the photo Jimmy! I too have fond memories, waiting at SBC for my relatives on the 2007. I used to wait at the fag end of the platform and see this come over the curve. And then run to the front to say hi to the drivers. Interestingly, one of my driver contacts is from those days...

Thanks Jimmy! Brings back memories of my school days, when I used to watch these WAP-1's and WAM-4's blasting away on the Shat, Brindavan, when the line was converted to AC. I remember this loco well, in fact, it hauled the Shat on my first Shat trip to MAS. Thanks!!

Surely for LKO Shatabdi as it used to have D to E change there but this was a regular feature on BPL or better say JHS Shatabdi in its initial days.

Nice catch. However, this looks like a plain old WAP1 to me. It was a recent transfer from SR at the time I think. The loco has the same WAP1/4 GM origin bogies and was a shatabdi lugger in SR. I'd caught 22048 with the same livery in Jan 2002 at Itarsi.

A good frontal view of one of the rarest class of electric locos on the IR.
