Hi Vabby, if you noticed, the train has two locos one had just failed outside GWL and the second was just about to fail while the train was on the bridge. We spent about an hour for another loco to take us off till the next station. Not an interesting place in the peak of summer in the afternoon.

Pal This is the sexiest thing of this line and the best way to experience this is either by the BPL Shatabdi or the Taj express.

3899m above mean sea level? Looks like someone missed a decimal point!

Check out the sleepers used, still the old ones. And the signalling wires on the right side of the track.

The rails kept between the two lines are 60kg rails meant for replacing the line on the left. The track on the left is 52 kg track and the one on the right is 60 kg track!

Those sheds you see in the back ground with locos in it were was the Steam Loco Shed of VSKP. They are at the norhern end of VSKP station. VSKP, at one time homed all the three types of locos: Steam, Diesel and Electric. Today, only diesel and electric sheds remain.

Nice pic. Good to see this one in a different angle. I missed this route in my trip down South and regret it.

Rather dramatic image, John — looking forward to the rest of your prodigious collection. :-)

Noticed the headlight change (livery chage as well), in the picture taken in 2000 at Madras it is showing single beam headlight and in this photo it has a double beam headlight. Same holds true for WAP4 # 22217 (in the two photos mentioned in above comment) as well.

Why did I not become a serious rail fan when I used to live close to this place???
