@ Apurva, there was a plan as long back as the 90s to air-brake the freight stock working the Barak Valley Section. I'm guessing some of that has been put into action, hence the need for dual braked YDM4s.

Apurvaji those are not flat wagons, but boggies of the scrapped locos... This is inside the locoshed compound.

@Apurva Bahadurji, LMG has several of its YDM-4 locos fitted with dual brakes. About some Mr. Dan Cross has updated in the IRFCA loco database and several others I found in the Lumding locoshed itself marked with "Dual Brake" on the cab. Perhaps for safety point of view in the hill section with some steep gradients. The stretch of 11 miles from Harangajao upto the northslope of the Jatinga Valley has a ruling gradient of 1 in 37 which was later reduced to 1 in 43 on 10 degree curves.
