Some serious stuff. But, good to see that discussions are moving on to a higher plane.
With the border issue resolved between India and Bangaladesh, we can hope to see some progress in this matter too. As long as the train does not cross the Teesta river !!

Hey - Lunch with some chilled beer !! Now, that is my kind of a convention. Better still would be if this lunch with beer event was to be held somewhere along the 64,000 Kms. of IR tracks !!!

Oh my god. Is this Williams? I was here last year and took the train to the canyon but mine was a twin diesel hauled service with more modern coaches. All retired though. I am so happy to see the steamer on the line. It was plinthed on the platform, right beside where this photograph was shot. One monster of a locomotive.

The Purna shown here is not the Purna we know near Parbhani. All the hypothetical stations depicted in the model room are named after Indian rivers.

Thanks for the correction. This slide should have been 1987-1989.
-----
I have Computer-generated from SC terminal ticket with me, which was issued in the fag-end of 1989. But, this practice WAS not there in 1988!!!
----------
By the way, the following paragraph is found in CRIS Website:
"In 1982,Government conceived a project for analysing a Freight Operations Information Systems(FOIS)with Railways Subsequently in 1986,Ministry of Railways established the CENTRE FOR RAILWAY INFORMATION SYSTEMS (CRIS), Chanakya Puri, New Delhi - 21 to be an umbrella organisation for all computer activities on Indian Railways (IR).They also entrusted it with the task of design, development and implementation of the FOIS, alongwith its associated communications infrastructure. The Centre started functioning from July,1987."
-----
When CRIS became functional in 1987, though started in 1986, how come NDLS Terminal started 'functioning' in 1986? Just curious!!
