The view is better than the Jumbo's because there is no short hood. But there seems to be some amount of clutter from the instrument/control panel. That way the WDP4/WDG4s are far better to drive cab-forward!

So is this a GM cousin of the WDP4/WDG4 ?

Looks like Pakistan Railways incorporated General Electric's Bright Star Micro Processor unit into their loco's much before we did. This is the exact same unit found on WDM3D and the latest lot of WDG3A Shakti locomotives

The "bonnet" is most probably for a more powerful engine to haul heavier loads.

Which loco is this? Seems some scrap dealers have bought this loco from abroad!! NEC?? Very strange pic. The lorry too seems to be strange. Never seen such a lorry, with the bonnet

ya looks really good and looks alike 2 the indian WDM1 for this is the ALCo world series DL500 ..it has been exported 2 somany countries and they all looks similar except those australian DL500 , they had dual cab on either ends and did not need a turn table like the WDM1 in India , well they still oparate in others countries but the Indian govt and the IR desided 2 eat them up , and well my lifes goal is 2 buy a WDM1 and restore it ...really , no kiddin

In a way rearview mirror can be helpful for the "pilots" to see the train during curves, spot signals from the guards and notice any unusual happenning like derailments etc.
