Grain silos at Pehowa Road wagon loading facility
David, the loading is by 'Engine on Train' system. The railway engine brings in the rake and remains attached, carrying out the intricate shunting involved in placing each wagon below the loader, wagon by wagon. The engine then takes the rake away to the train station and the whole process takes around 4 hours. The company owned rakes are maintained at TKD (Tuglakabad), by Railways.

Fascinating pictures. Many thanks. I trust that they will be moved to First class. Does the company have its own locomotive for moving the wagons under the loader?

Excellent stuff. I've seen this kind of stuff in the USA but not in India.

I am starting to enjoy the photos in the "Open Line" a lot more than "First Class". Information-wise, "Open Line" is "First Class" and "First Class" is third class. :-)

The facility was one of two (first at Moga) built by M/S Adani Agri Logistics Ltd, on a BOO (Build, Own and Operate ) agreement with Food Corporation of India (FCI). For loading, Railways deal with FCI (including payments).

Nice album showcasing a little-known aspect of IR's freight operations. Thanks for sharing.
