I am no expert in these matters, but I thought the purple fringing came about because of the early morning sunlight?

Abhijit, avoid using max zoom of the camera as lens imperfections too get magnified. Just look at the amount of purple fringing in your picture which results from dispersion of small wavelengths of light due to lens imperfections. Nice picture otherwise.

Good shot. The catenary appears to play to positive role here without cluttering the subject.
