This is the only British owned private (Killick Nixon & Co.) railway line in India. Indian Railways has a contract to operate it on a 60 : 40 profit sharing basis, but the line is running into heavy losses. Most of the towns and villages en route lie in rich cotton growing areas, but have very poor transport connectivity. If the line does close down, it will be the end of one of the last remnants of the British Raj in India. The local politicians say they will fight for their train.

Yavatmal is a district HQ and a town of some importance in Vidarbha. But looking at the station, one realizes that it has been totally neglected by IR. That is one point in favour of Project Unigauge.

The LPs look like the LPs from the steam loco era, complete with head bandanas.

Great set of images from the NG section in Maharashtra.
I see no signalling systems in any of the snaps? What is the norm here? Semaphore or MACL's?

Is this cabin still operational? If so,then what area does it control? The lack of electrical indicators on top of the frame implies semaphore territory.
