Forgot to mention - in one of the videos on Swaran's site (Grandtrunk Express), a CNB WAG7 also has the red markers on in the front.

Yes, it was red. No discolouration. You can compare it with the red signal in the distance. Even I was puzzled.

... and the time (1000 hrs) explains the front panto!! The train passes thru the ghat sections between BSL & ET and ET & BPL during morning hours.

this is the NZM bound Swarnajayanthi Exp from MYS. the SLR was the original livery of the train, now converted to the blue/cyan.

Hey Neil, thanx for the info. But the Deccan Oddessey did have 2 runs; the 1st being politicians and bollywood and sporting fraternity greats, and the 2nd run had a few tourists. However, it still left a lot to be desired.
