This ruin is in the middle of the park dedicated to the memory of Bhagat Singh and Rajguru who were cremated here after their execution in Lahore Jail. Another memorial tablet commemorating the 1971 Battle of Hussainiwala refers to it as the brick kiln. Actually it is the fortified western end of the destroyed bridge that was once used by the Punjab Mail on its Bombay - Lahore run.

I forgot to add that the damage to the structure was inflicted during the 1971 battle and that the bridge itself came down due to a "sympathetic detonation" during that same battle. Yes, there is an identical structure on the eastern bank. Thanks Jay,...
