Jaipur and Delhi

The final stops on my trip were to visit my grandparents in Jaipur and then Delhi before flying out. My grandmother on my father’s side lives within sight of the Jaipur to Agra mainline and this is where I developed my love of trains. While most of the time was spent with family I was able to sneak out trackside for an hour in the evening to photograph a couple trains. The next morning I took the early Jaipur to Delhi double-decker, by far the fastest train on the trip, reaching near 70 mph, quite the feat for a single WDM3A pulling such a heavy train! Upon arrival in Delhi Cantt I was dismayed to find that the semaphore signals that I had been hoping to photograph were gone. However I photographed two ALCO hauled trains anyways before heading to my grandparents place house my first Indian Railway adventure, but it certainly won’t be the last!

Later in the evening the Pooja Superfast Express blasts west with a hammerhead style WDP4 in the lead, to me these look much better long hood forward.
