For the records, the first WAP-5 arrival at BCT. WAP-5 #30001 has just brought in the 2952 Rajdhani. And just look at 21828 in the foreground.. Who would say that WCAM-1s should be scrapped after looking at this shining loco? It looks like a new loco awaiting commissioning ;)

Also note how short the WAP-5 is as compared to WCAM-1. (Akshay Marathe)

One reason for the WCAM1's MPS of 100 kmph is its length - higher speeds causes it to vibrate. This was told to me by a railway official many years back.

Always wanted to see this comparison! IR's longest BG electric loco, WCAM-1 and shortest one WAP-5 in single frame.. :)

Thanks for the photograph, Akshay.

True, the old need not always give in to the new. Both can co-exist together, as the WCAM-1s still have some life left in them.
