GENERAL INFORMATION:
| LOCATION: |
The Mysore Rail Museum is
situated right next to the Mysore railway station. It is a barely ten minutes walk. After you step out of the station, walk outside the
station courtyard, follow the road past a roundabout till you come to another roundabout a
few metres away. Turn right here, and you will be at the museum gates in a few minutes.
A rough location map is given below. |

| GETTING THERE: |
Now I'm not an expert on
Mysore, so if you are going from anywhere in Mysore city, take an auto rickshaw. From Bangalore, the most convenient way is to take the
Shatabdi Express, which leaves Bangalore at 1110 and reaches Mysore at 1310 after a non
stop run. You can return by the Mysore-Tirupati Fast passenger which leaves Mysore at 1745
and reaches Bangalore at 1930. The only hitch with the Shatabdi, apart from the hefty fare
is, lunch is served on board. The museum is closed between 1300 and 1500, so you have a
couple of hours to spare.
Alternatively, there are several trains
from Bangalore to Mysore, and buses every fifteen minutes. |
