On 23rd August 2002 , Bangalore division celebrated the completion of 150 glorious
years of Indian Railways , by organising a steam run.This was once in a life
time oppurtunity to see a steam loco in action , especially for the new generation
bangaloreans . The 6 coach train was aptly named as " Heritage Special ". The
proud loco was WP 7161. This class of broad guage steam loco was a gem for the
IR during the steam era. |
Here is the 45km route taken by the train with a halt of 5 minutes at each
station . |
START SBC - Bangalore city Jn. MWM - Malleswaram YPR - Yesvantapur LOGH - Lottegollahalli KDGH - Kodigehalli YNK - Yelehanka Jn. CSDR - Chennasandra KJM - Krishnarajapuram BYPL - Baiyappanahalli BNCE - Bangalore East BNC - Bangalore Cantonment SBC - Bangalore city Junction END |
As there are two reversals at YNK & KJM , a diesel loco did the duty from YNK to
KJM. This saved a lot of time. |
