A little correction: This loco was supposed to be transferred to Nanded. The one which is plinthed at Mariani Junction isYG 3213.

Nice to see it preserved but badly needs a paint job. Especially the rust colour of Western Railway is not up to it.

Nice to see another German gentleman of IR being preserved.It was built by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. in 1954. Kraus-Maffei now makes defence machinery. I guess it was one of the last MG steams of Wankaner shed operating as late as 1999. Manufacturer's serial No. KrM-18031 Quite a long service period of 55 years.

#1798, Manufacturer Number Blw 37997 built in 1948 and was homed at APDJ. However, originally belonged to BBCIR (#1000) and then NER (#1822). Used in the Brahamaputra by Steam Chartar between Guwahati and Pandu.

WP 7278 (MLW 77360) was amongst the second batch of WP class locomotives built for East Indian Railway by Montreal Locomotive Works in 1949 after the first batch of prototype WP/P supplied by Baldwin in 1947 were deemed successful.
