Igatpuri is the station where DC traction gives way to AC traction (and vice versa). The Pushpak Exp. came in with a DC loco - WCM5 - which was detached here. Then, an AC loco - WAM4 - took over.

As a kid, I saw the WCM-5 as a 'cat' and the monster WCM-1 as a 'huge dog' what with their muzzle-like noses. I still recall the earth-shaking vibrations they used to cause when leading a train into Dadar. Pity, they are gone, never to be seen again.

I remember visiting the ZTS (Zonal Training School) with my dad, who was a personnel officer in CR. There was this huge model set in the middle of the room with blocks, points and signals; as a kid it was quite awesome. I'm sure it would be still awesome to me and all other rail nuts.

The famous Manmad Junction. Now everything is Broad Gauge. 15 years ago
you had Meter gauge coming in from
Hy-bad and BG passing from VT to Nagpur
A little before independance the MG from
Hyderabad was NIZAM Railways. Even today
so many railway & road crossings on this
MG route still have the same metal gates
with the emblem NR that is Nizam Rail.

Bhusaval a very, very important junction
There is a huge Rail colony at Bhusaval
