The columns are evidently hollow. The water flows from left to right and the high flood level is as much as the window in the picture. 1st May 2009.

The base (foundation) is solid RCC. The superstructure is hollow - to save on steel and concrete. The pipe seen in the picture is for draining out rain water to avoid any stagnation of water in the hollow section.

Besides the column being hollow,the piers as compared to Panval are more rectangular in shape than octagonal.
