When I boarded GHY Rajdhani with LHB Rake for the first time in 2008, I was struggling to open this door, but a waiter helped me, actually there should be instructions in both Hindi & English, else it will be malfunctionate by some rude passenger.

Yes there vestibule doors are tough to operate at first. I learned using them easily by watching the waiters and staff of Shatabdi and Rajdhani. They use their right hand to push left door and vice-versa.
