Colin, a slight correction. BNC was the original BG terminus of the Jolarpettai - BNC line, which was started in 1864. The line was extended to SBC only in 1882. Maybe you meant the Guntakal - Bangalore BG conversion which was completed in 1983, or the ...

And by the way..
BNC-bangalore cantonment was B.G and well formed too with existing 2platforms lines and 1 midline!(connecting to JTJ).
B.G was extended till SBC recently(ie 1986).
