Kalyan’s WCAM 3 # 21934 moves slowly to couple with the rake of the 1026 Up Pragati Express to Mumbai. The spikes above the insulators as well as the hanging strips (move by the wind) above the spikes are meant to scare away birds. The bird’s dropping on the insulators increases the chances of a flashover on the OHE due to the excellent conductive properties of the stuff !. Pune Jn., 2005-04-16. Apurva (iti@vsnl.com).

A rarity even in the the small, closely knit community of the AC/DC locos, the WCAG 1 # 21978 from the Kalyan shed, returns light towards Lonavala after leaving the load at the Ghorpadi yard. As I wait for the 1009 to depart CSTM, a KYN WCAM3 # 21947 is busy making back & forth trips on the side lines. The loco was seen shuttling railway staff from the electric loco shed to the CSTM end.
