The WAG-9H was a heavier version (by 12 tonnes) of the WAG-9; the higher adhesive weight makes it suitable for hauling heavier freight rakes: 58-wagon BOXN rake, ~4,700 tonnes, on a 1:150 grade. In 2000, it was undergoing trials on the Ujjain - Nagda section. Later, the loco was converted back to a plain WAG-9. Photo by Sujeet Mishra, 2000.

I liked the way the morning sun accentuated the colours. This is my first ever sighting of a WAG-9 while waiting for the Gitanjali Exp. to Mumbai. It was dead and coupled between the Itarsi Passenger and the WAM-4 in charge. I had heard that it was being taken to Ghaziabad for repairs. Note the shed marking as Ajni. Nagpur Stn., 2003-11-26. Another one in a series of dead locos, this time the very rarely seen WAG-9 , in all probability being taken to Ghaziabad for repairs, at Nagpur between the Itarsi WAM4 and the NGP ET Passenger on a Sunday morning as I was waiting for the Gitanjali Exp to arrive on my way to Mumbai. This was actually my first WAG-9 spotting ever and the loco had been recently transferred to Ajni loco shed. Nagpur Station, 2003-11-23. By Alok Patel.

The pantograph of WAG-9 #31024 with double-collector shoes(similar to a DC pantograph). The imported and the early Indian-built WAG-9s have this type of pantograph. These have now been replaced with the conventional AC-type pantographs in the latter WAG-9s. Pragati Maidan, 2004-12. By Vivek Manvi.
