These 5000hp locomotives are responsible for some of the fastest freight movements on IR. Featuring high adhesion bogies these locos are capable of hauling 3000 tonne loads with ease. Unfortunately, for livery enthusiasts this class offers the least variety among IR's locomotive large electric locomotive fleet with sheds choosing not to paint them in 'home' liveries.
When launched these came out with a distinctive red/white/blue livery. These locos also featured broad white strips on a red background on the front face. This led to railfans calling the livery 'tiger face'! The illustration below shows an example from the Lallaguda(LGD) shed.

With sheds not painting the locos in usual 'home' colours, the vast majority of the class shares the above livery. However in the last couple of years, CLW, which manufactures them has started to turn them out in a light blue livery with a narrow yellow band running across the length of the shell. A typical example from the Tuklakabad(TKD) shed is shown below.
Although increasingly rare, yet another variant of the blue livery exists. This features a more deeper blue shell with the yellow band running across. The illustration below features a locomotive from the Erode(ED) shed.
