East India Distilleries & Sugar Estates  

The 2'0" gauge system was known as the Kulasekarapatnam Light Railway, covering the districts north and south of
Kulasekarapatnam. The local government authorised their use for public traffic by various orders from 1914 onwards. 
The managing agents were Parry & Co. The system closed for traffic from 2/1940.i

Lakshimi Patty & Co, Madras

A contractors yard in which are the remains of a 2'0" gauge 0-4-0WT with Hudson plates was noted in 1967.v It was suggested 
that it may be HC 1395 but can not have been as this is a 2'6" gauge locomotive unless gauge was quoted incorrectly.

Madras Port Trust

Eleven steam and twenty-two diesel BG locos in use 1966. MG sole survivor is a 4-6-0 locomotive but there are two MG at 
Pallivarum Quarries, both ex SIR 0-6-0 locomotives.vii  

Twenty-two diesels present. Steam is still used. More Indian built diesels are expected in 18 months. At Pallavaram Quarries,
the Port Trust has three MG tender locomotives to work the thrice weekly train of stone to the IR MG mainline. viii

The line to Pallavaram Quarry closed and lifted c.1970. ix

It is also suggested that ten S locomotives worked on this project. One was S 7835/29, which was one of the many S used on
